Communication Specialist
Plainfield United Methodist Church – Plainfield, Indiana
Plainfield United Methodist Church is seeking a Communication Specialist who can help tell the story of our church and support the ministries that serve our congregation and community.
This role creates clear, engaging communication across digital and print platforms. The Communication Specialist works closely with pastors and ministry leaders to share information, invite participation, and present a consistent voice and visual identity for the church.
Position Overview
The Communication Specialist develops and produces communication materials that keep people informed and connected to the life of the church. This includes website content, email newsletters, print pieces, social media posts, and other communication tools that support ministry.
The role works collaboratively with clergy and staff while also managing projects independently.
Key Responsibilities
Communications
- Manage and maintain the church website
- Prepare weekly worship documents
- Create and distribute the weekly email newsletter
- Compile, design, and distribute the monthly newsletter
- Design print materials such as posters, flyers, brochures, and announcements
- Support marketing and advertising efforts
- Contribute to the church’s social media presence (Facebook, Instagram, YouVersion)
- Capture and edit photos and video for communication pieces
- Help ministry leaders share information through digital platforms
Clerical Support
- Assist with print production and operate office equipment such as copiers and folding machines as needed
Required Skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong graphic design skills
- Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
- Highly organized and detail oriented
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to maintain positive working relationships with staff and outside vendors

- Domain registration and DNS management (GoDaddy or similar)
